cypress iris album

Getting albums in the mail makes me giddy. It’s so exciting to see and touch the final product of the entire wedding process: first meeting the bride and groom…talking about the photographs…shooting the wedding…posting the pictures online…choosing favorites…designing…picking cover colors…it all comes down to that moment of holding that gorgeous book in your hands. It’s something I know my clients will be proud to show family and friends.

Cypress Albums is one of the album companies I offer and when you actually see one in real life, you know you are holding a piece of art. I was thrilled to get Abby and Gene’s album yesterday. I quickly took pictures and shipped it off to them since I’m sure they would love to get it before their little baby arrives (sometimes the album process takes a bit of time.)

These albums are handmade with the finest materials. They have a variety of linen covers and silk ribbons to choose from to create a stunning, classic look. The book is weighty in your hands and have thick pages. Photographic prints are mounted into the book and there is an option to also have a cut-out photo in the front cover. I simply can’t say enough about how incredible these books are.

I took some photos as I opened the box to try to show each beautiful detail and to savor the experience of opening one of these treasures. I hope it does it justice, but if you’re curious to touch one, I’d be happy to show you my sample album. I know the economy has made a lot of bride and grooms need to tighten the purse strings, but I can guarantee that investing in one of these albums will be putting your money in the right place and will be a decision you won’t regret!

happy we live here

One of our favorite things to do lately is to take out the 4-wheeler and go visit this wall of haystacks in the field behind our house. It’s also at the edge of the runway so it’s fun for my son to watch planes take off and land too. This was my hubby and I having some fun the other evening. He looks way cooler than I did so I chose not to embarrass myself by posting any of my lame moves.

I love this spot so much I brought out a pregnant friend of mine who is due…today-ish…for some portraits. Will post some later (if I get permission.)

huckleberry picking

Off to our secret huckleberry picking spot. We could have spent all day there if the kids didn’t melt down first. Afterwards, we enjoyed a cocktail of gin and tonic with muddled huckleberries and lime juice created by our friend Scott and inspired by one of the most gorgeous days this entire summer and a promising season of berries to stock our freezers.

YUM! I, too, need to start going on the hunt! I like the recipe suggestion :)

So bummed we missed picking today! Can’t wait to go on a hunt with you soon!!

love song #14 – michael franti

Ever since I saw Michael Franti and Spearhead perform at Targhee Fest at Grand Targhee last month, I’ve become a huge fan. He’s an incredible performer who has a sense of community, spirituality, family and love. And his music just makes you want to smile…and dance. Enjoy a little shake this morning.

Shake It by Michael Franti and Spearhead (featuring Lady Saw)

You perfect just the way you are, just the way you are.

[Chorus:]
Shake it shake it shake it
(On the tambourine Ah)
Shake it shake it shake it
(you the one for me)
Shake it shake it shake it
Shake it shake it shake it
(you the dancehall queen)

[Verse 1:]
Shake it shake it mama. You the one for me. I realize you’re the only one that’s meant to be.
When I wake up in the morning all I wanna see, is the sun and it’s shinin’ on you next to me.

You got a little broken nail, got a hair outta place, got a little bit of extra middle right around the waist.
With all of them things I never ever hesitate, because the thing about you baby is the smile on your face.

I’m blowin kisses at you girl and I hope that they didn’t miss, the way you move ya body makes it hard for them to hit you… I wish you would… come a little closer… rub a little a closer… mamma say?

[Chorus]

I got love for ya baby, and I’m never giving it up.And I love the way you love me never getting enough. I love the way you shake that little extra bit of butter. When I see you move your body, it makes my heart a flutter.

When I see you dancing on the living room floor, on the kitchen table better open up the door. Bring the party to the street because the street will love her more and if the people love the beat then the beat will love her more.

With the music blastin, the people clappin, the speakers shakin’, the kids will take it.

You’re perfect…just the way you are.
You’re perfect just the way you are.

[Chorus]

Shake it on the beach girl a sol a la playa, hotter than the sun you know you set the soul on fire,
A bird in the sky you make me feel like a flyer, higher… higher… higher… higher…

I got love for ya baby like every single day. I got love for ya baby in every single way, I got love for ya, in every thing that I cook, it’s like the way that you look rhythm she wrote, it’s the way that you shook.

[Chorus]

kara & scott | jackson lake lodge

Well, Kara told me when I posted the pictures of her wedding, my number of website hits were going to go up…but I had no idea! My stats are off the chart (well, my chart), and this is officially my busiest blog day to date. So in honor of this special occasion, I thought I would post some of Kara and Scott’s wedding photos as quickly as possible. Here you go!

I met Kara and Scott last summer, and I knew I was going to love shooting their wedding. They are fellow Midwest folks from Evansville, Indiana…and they are two of the nicest people I’ve met. Kara honestly has to be one of the most genuinely happy brides I’ve ever photographed, and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire time I’ve spent with them.

Their lovely wedding was held at the Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park where Kara worked for several seasons, years ago. She always imagined getting married there. Their family and friends were so welcoming and it was obvious that everyone enjoyed their time in the Tetons.
