In January of 2011, I opened my first studio. It's been an incredible move for me professionally and personally. I love having a place to go to work, which has made me a much more productive business owner and a much better mom!
My studio is located in Driggs, on East Little Avenue as you head up to Grand Targhee Ski Resort. It's a bright, beautiful place where I can still use my favorite light source...daylight. I've always preferred to use natural light whenever possible. I do have studio lights (and know how to use them!) but I'll always try first to use the gorgeous light that pours through the four corner windows.
There's a nice sitting area for meeting with clients or for a tired new mom to put up her feet. Just for these latter clients, I even have a changing table, boppy, and all other sorts of things that just make it a little easier to leave the home with a new baby...or older one, for that matter. There's a variety of backgrounds and props, but I like to use these items sparingly.
I still am in awe of where we live and will almost always encourage clients to have their photo shoots outdoors. But weather doesn't always cooperate during the many, long chilly months we often reluctantly experience. The studio offers a cozy, quiet, warm place for those winter months and for a delicate new baby.
